Happy Easter 2012

Happy Easter! Our Easter was a little bit crazy this year. Our Rhyming Easter Bunny came back of course and the kids had a fun time figuring out all the clues! It was especially neat because this year Pierce could read them himself! Trent was on his death bed with some kind of wicked flu. He barely got out of bed to watch the kids find their baskets. I took the kids to church. It was a very good Sunday at church. No tantrums and I actually got to listen to the meeting! After church the kids came back for a nice relaxing nap. Then we were off to Brown Papa and Oma's house!
We had a Easter egg hunt in their back yard. Money and jelly beans were stuffed inside of those plastic eggs. The kids had a fun time for sure. We had a yummy dinner and then Oma had made cute little bunny cakes for us to decorate for dessert. The kids, Papa and the missionaries really got into it!
Jaida hiding and opening up her eggs for more Candy!

There was so much stuff piled onto their bunny Cakes.
They were really proud of them.
Jaida was more interested in the candy! We then watched a movie about Jesus Christ. It was a fabulous day.. my only wish would have been that Trent could have spent it with us! We missed him!

Pierce is super smart

Sometimes I feel like I don't get to brag about this kid enough. Trent and I have always felt like we totally LUCKED out with a kid like him. He is loving, kind, loyal, in-tune with others feelings, a great one to cuddle, and we are finding out now just how smart he is! Pierce's teacher absolutely loves Pierce. Every time we talk she just goes on and on about what a great kid and role model he is for the other kids.
In March he had the HONOR of being asked to give a Book Review for the school's reading night. He was the only Kindergartner chosen from the entire school to give a review. He decided that he wanted to read an Elephant and Piggie book. The book he chose was: I Love My New Toy, By : Mo Willems. Once he read it we practiced things that he could talk about the book.
When the night came he was really excited. They called him up out of the audience and he got a little nervous and once the Librarian gave him a little help with the title he did awesome! Trent and I were so impressed and proud of him. It was really cute to see him do well and like doing it.
Pierce is very smart and is reading at a first grade level and is also at a first grade level in math. Way to go Pierce! I am so proud of this little boy, who really is NOT little at all! I love you P!

Fishing with the Boys

How spoiled are we to have Brown Papa live right by us? He called earlier in the week and offered to take the boys fishing on Friday. They spent the night over on Thursday and got up early to go fishing. Papa has a Friend out here that has some amazing property. They boys were so excited!
There was no shortage of catching fish here and it made them absolutely love every minute of it. I am still hearing about all the fun they had together. They had a yummy breakfast to start too.

My boys didn't catch this HONKER, but they thought it was pretty awesome!

The boys absolutely adore their Brown Papa. Brock had still been talking about the last time they went fishing at the Father and Son's outing and how Papa took all the fish they caught and ate it without him. So this time Papa made sure that he came home with Plenty of fish (bluegill) to eat.
So Trent cut up all the fish, breaded and fried it. Brock loved it. He loves fish. His favorite is salmon. In fact that is what he has asked for his birthday is some salmon. Funny kid. They had a great time and will always be a memory that they cherish! Thanks Brown Papa!

National Zoo with Dad

This last week was spring break and we had a lot of fun. The first of the week was spent playing outside: sandbox, bikes, park, picnics, and lots of friends. It was a blast and when by really fast. On Thursday Trent took the day off to spend with us. We decided that We would like to take Trent to the National Zoo since he had never been. Well apparently everyone else had the exact same idea. It was packed! Usually I just kind of take my time to get there. It opens at 10 so we got there about 10:30ish and the parking lot was FULL! So we had to find a spot on the street. We ended up finding a pretty good spot and it saved us $20 bucks.. yahoo!
Brock was in charge of the camera.. so as you can see we have plenty of pictures of the animals he was enjoying and one picture of me. So it could mean he mistaken me for a hippo or that he really loves me, I will go with the latter.
The gorillas here are amazing and I have never been let down by them. They are always really active and a big hit!

We were most excited that we finally got to go see the reptile exhibit. Every time we have been there is such a big line and we had a stroller. The boys were in heaven. They loved this alligator.

And of course the conna-conna (anaconda). Wow, that is impressive. I had never seen one. Yikes!
 The Crocs!
And see this iguana above.. this is about how we felt after going to the zoo. COMPLETELY worn out! Next on the agenda?? NAPS! So glad that Trent could come with us. We love having him around!
