Brock's Brain

I don't think that there is ever a time when this kid's brain stops working. It seems like it is going  90 miles per hour and no end in sight. He wakes up at the crack of dawn with a billion ideas of what needs to get done for the day. He is constantly writing out plans or drawing up concepts of things we need to build, create, develop. Man he basically just wears me out. It is just plain exhausting sometimes.
One thing that I have found that can keep him occupied for my sanity's sake is drawing. If we sit down and draw things together some how I feel more at ease. Here is a picture of our most recent drawing of a killer whale eating a salmon. We sure had a great time doing this together and it was cute to see him try and research how the real-life animals looked and tried to color it according to that.
I wouldn't trade this crazy-brained kid for anything. I sure love his little thoughts and tid-bits. He is such a great little boy and brings so much creativity and life to our home. Love you Lumps.

Halloween Festival

We have the most amazing neighbor here. She is an older lady and has kind of adopted my kids as her grand kids. She brings them treats and gifts and just loves them to pieces. My kids think that she is pretty neat. Miss Wanda came over right before Halloween and told my kiddos that she had purchased tickets for her works Halloween Festival. They were so excited that they could hardly wait. It ended up being perfect because it was the weekend Trent was supposed to be out of town, so it was a great out of the house adventure!
With admission each kid got a free pumpkin, all you could jump on the bouncy things. Free face painting, free balloon creations, and even a free fun play! I was a little skeptical about it really being free but really it was. I was thoroughly impressed and we stayed until they pretty much kicked us out!
Brock absolutely loved this 22ft. slide and by the end was pretty much doing flips off the top. Some of the bystanders were like holy cow that kid has no fear, yup that's what I have to deal with folks.
Pierce was more brave than I thought. Jaida wanted really bad to go down it, but they told me that i would have to go with her. Pretty much didn't want to hoof my big booty up the obstacle course to get her down the slide! Sorry, Jaida!
Now let me just tell you how awesome the face painting was, some of the best I have ever seen. Holy cow, Pierce asked for a Zombie and she hit it dead on. Every time I looked at him for the rest of the day it creeped me out.
Brock wanted a magical jack-o-lantern. I thought it turned out awesome.
Jaida wanted what Brock had. She loves her some Brock and pretty much is his shadow. We are in big trouble if you ask me. The lady did add a rainbow for a girly touch.
We had the time of our lives! Definitely something I would do again. Thanks Miss Wanda, we love you!

Trick or Treat.. smell my feet

This year we had a party pooper Dad, a CRAZY eight ball ( special emphasis on the crazy), a red power ranger, a pirate and a Cinderella. To Trent's defense he did dress up for our ward's Trunk or treat, he was Clark Kent. Since we have lived here our good Friends Bob and Tracey Lowcher have invited us to go Trick or Treating in their neighborhood. They have such a fun neighborhood. Every house is decorated and the people sit or in their driveways to pass out the candy. It is like one big party. Plus their awesome Daughter Megan comes along with us to help with the kiddos.
As always we had a lot of fun and got tons of good candy. Such a fun memory to have.

Pumpkin Carving

This year our kids picked out HUGE pumpkins. They were really so big it was crazy. They were sure excited to carve them up. Each one of them had certain plans for how they wanted them to look. Mom's job is to do all the drawing of the designs and Dad's job is to carve them.
Jaida wasn't shy at all about reaching in and grabbing out the innards. She loved every second of it.
Brock had the biggest pumpkin of them all, but go figure it had the least amount of seeds.

Cleaning them out is not really Pierce's favorite thing to do. He is a little on the OCD side, like me and doesn't like the feel of being dirty.
blah, I took terrible, but it is about the kids right and to document that I really was there!
Brock went with a traditional Jack o Lantern face.
Pierce wanted a spooky looking face.
We did Jaida's with a funny crooked smile and as you can tell it  looks just like her! Hahaha love her little crooked grin.
The night was a success, unfortunately it was so rainy and warm outside our pumpkins were mushy and moldy within a few days. Man, those things get stinky!

Playing in the leaves

In October Trent went out of town and the kids were out of school. We were pretty bored with out Daddy here. We decided at about 7PM to go out and rake our neighbor's leaves and jump in them. It all started out great. All the kids were chipping in and picking up the leaves. We had quite the pile. They gave up about 15 minutes into it and were tired of raking.
Being the totally nice mom I am I continued to finish our pile. I was sure glad I did because they literally had the time of their lives jumping and playing in them. I think our neighbor was pretty thrilled too.
We stayed out way past dark and it was really so much fun to play and feel like a kid again. After it was all said and done, everyone was happy and tired!

(another) Sleep Study

Here is a picture of my sweet little trooper. You may not know it by looking at her, but this girl really has been through a lot in the last 2 1/2 years. So much poking and prodding, endless doctors visits all for them to tell us they are "baffled". She really is such an example to me of just how amazing kids are. She has been so brave and tough and always trusts in me. She has taught me so much in these last few years.
The last few days I have been reflecting a lot on her journey and how far she truly has come. Sometimes it is therapeutic for me to go back and read my thoughts that I wrote down during the extremely hard times. Sometimes I chuckle to myself as I read them and realize how crazy I may have sounded and how I wrote a whole lot about how I can't wait for this to end. The crazy optimism that I had with each doctors visit and also the extreme let downs I would have after them, when they didn't go as well as I hoped! If it is on thing I have learned it isn't the optimism that I regret, it is the times that I let the negativity get to me. The times that I wanted to just give up, but in those moments I learned a lot about myself. So, really I don't wish any of this away. I really have been shaped and molded and learned so much these last few years.
With all that being said, I still wasn't looking forward to yet another sleep study. I always get anxiety, that part is never easy for me. I feel like a lot of the times Jaida is way more brave and at peace with things than I am. When we arrived this time, she was happy as can be. She kept saying," Mommy we sleep together in the same bed and watch movies?" I would say,"Yep!" and she would reply,"wahoo!" The nurses all know us really well and love Jaida. They are all routing for her to do her best and are always very impressed with her bravery. The nurse this time was our usual one and kept telling Jaida each time she put an electrode on her head how she was putting on her Tangled princess hair. So with each new strand Jaida would cheer with excitement and say, "Mommy I a Princess!" In this picture we were trying to gear her up for the "worst" part of the whole thing.. the nasal cannula and nasal probe. She wasn't very excited about it, but as usual she took it in stride.
I am not sure how, but Jaida had an extremely good night sleep. She didn't seem quite as restless as sleep studies in the past. Maybe it is because she is so familiar with them? I would like to think that it has more to do with all those who pray for her to feel peace. I do believe that Jaida has "guardian angels".
In the morning, bright and early, the nurse came in. She isn't authorized to tell us any information because obviously she isn't a doctor. But I think because they know us so well and really truly want Jaida to be better, she whispered to me under her breath, " Just thought I would share with you that she didn't require oxygen all night!!" I tried my hardest not to shout for JOY out loud, but I wanted too. I tried not to let my emotions get the best of me too. I simply hugged her and walked out feeling like I could conquer the world. That was until I got out to the parking lot, I screamed with joy! Once I got in the car the tears began to flow uncontrollably. I was feeling an extreme sense of gratitude. Right then I prayed to my Heavenly Father and thanked him for this moment. It really was such an amazing moment.
Now, I don't want to get to far ahead of myself because we still don't know all the results of her study. But really if it is just a glimmer of hope or a light at the end of the tunnel. I am just grateful for that. Do I wish and hope that it could mean that she is cured? Sure, but am I going to be devastated if she isn't, no! Because I know that for whatever reason this is what God has planned for her/ us and I am going to try and be just like Jaida and face it with courage and bravery! Here is to a renewed sense of optimism and hope.

Best Buds

One thing I had always hoped was that since these two boys were so close in age that they would be best buddies. For the most part they are, but they definitely have their moments. One thing is for sure Brock thinks that Pierce hung the moon. He absolutely looks up to him and wants his approval. Pierce is usually a pretty good sport and lets Brock tag along. I tell you what, it sure makes this mom's heart happy to see.
